How it runs

Four steps, two truck rolls

A D&R is two visits with your reroof in the middle. The whole point of our process is that neither visit ever holds up your crew.

01

Submit the job

Company, homeowner, address, panel count. Two minutes from a phone. We call back to confirm scope and lock the detach date.

02

Detach day

System de-energized, wiring labeled, panels and racking off and staged on site, positions mapped. Your crew gets a clean deck.

03

Your reroof

We stay out of your way. On a typical Valley reroof the panels are off for a handful of business days while you tear off, dry in, and finish.

04

Reset and re-energize

New attachments flashed to the new roof, racking and panels back per plan, connections torqued, system energized, production verified before we leave.

Why roofers hand us the solar scope

Your schedule is the product

A reroof with solar on it lives or dies on the sub who touches the panels. Here is what we are set up to protect.

  • The license the job legally needs

PV disconnect and reconnect is electrical scope under Arizona ROC rules, not roofing scope. We hold ROC 362987, residential electrical, and carry the remodeling license beside it.

  • Trained on the biggest fleets there are

Jon ran solar crews for SolarCity and Tesla Energy before founding Blackout. Panel handling, labeling, and recommissioning run on that playbook.

  • The paperwork side is a person, not a promise

Alexis runs permitting and interconnection in our office. SRP and APS coordination is handled by name, not by hope.

  • Problems surface before reset, not after

Panels get checked as they come off. A cracked or failing module gets flagged to you and the homeowner the same day, which is how a review on our Google profile describes it happening.

Black Out Electric detached and installed (30) panels on my roof. They did a great job and right on time with no surprises. I would highly recommend.

Blackout Electric came out quickly and took care of my broken lights, plus added a dimmer. The install is super clean and looks really nice. They also detach and reset a lot of solar panels for my roofing company, and they are hands-down the best in the valley. Highly recommend these guys for anything electrical.

I want to thank the employees of Black out electric for your great service. Last month I had my roof replaced . Black out electric came in and removed and reinstalled the solar panels. Both jobs were completed rapidly and professionally. I had two damaged panels that I wasn't aware until techs alerted me. Karen who coordinated all work graciously and quickly found replacements and once again coordinated the installation of the panels. I am very appreciative of the dedication and service Black out electric employees provided. Thank you!

Submit a D&R job

Homeowner, address, panel count, and the window you need. We call back to confirm scope, then the detach goes on the calendar.

2 · Who we call back

The address decides utility territory (SRP or APS) and the permit authority, so it has to be exact.

Next step: pick the detach slot on the calendar. By sending, you agree we may call, text, or email you back about this job. Details in the privacy policy.

Straight answers

D&R questions, answered like a sub you can trust

Submit the job with the address and panel count and we call back to lock the detach date. A typical residential array comes off in a morning. The tighter your window, the more it helps to submit the job the day the reroof is sold, not the week of tear-off.
